Is this really the answer we have been looking for?
This particular subject came up after I got my first haircut in over a year. The lady that cut my hair asked how I felt about the vaccine. I won't give her name, because asking a question is not against the law, and I dont want to make anybody mad because I will probably need another haircut eventually. I let it grow because I thought I missed having long hair. As it turns out, the only thing I missed was getting a haircut. I responded as kindly as I could, that I didnt believe I needed to take it. She asked, "Don't you want this to go away?" That's where my title came from. There are still so many unanswered questions surrounding this virus, and the vaccination, tthat it's way too soon to have an informed opinion. Informed being the key word. You know the saying, "everyone has an opinion, and they all stink". If the virus is a naturally occurring phenomenon, then it will happen again. Or evolve and be worse. If it was man made, in my opinion, then, the argument that science is the solution to all our problems, just flew out the window. Unlike the politicians, I feel like the biggest threat to humanity is man's inability to tell the whole truth, all the time. We're living in a world of instant gratification, and satisfaction. The majority of the population has a cell phone, or a computer at our disposal, every minute of every day. Guilty as charged your honor. But I remember a time, not so long ago, when the phone rang, There was an argument over who's turn it was to answer it. "It's your turn, I got it last time." But now, we'll run a block to get reception, and not miss a call. While I do understand the convenience, I somehow long for the simpler times. But, that's just because I grew up in the 60's, when our neighbors were our friends. Kids could play in the streets, as long as you were home when the streetlights came on. That being said, I know there will be those who do not agree. But, that's okay, too. When I was growing up, we only had an RC bottling company near us. I didnt realize that Coke, or Pepsi existed until I went in the service in 1979. Yes, I'm from a very small town, and probably considered a Redneck, or a bumpkin by most of you. But, I'm okay with that, too. I worked construction for 38 years until I got hurt and could'nt work the jobs anymore, even though I still want to. I worked all over this country with some of the finest individuals you could ever want to meet, Black, White, Hispanic, Bosnian, Russian, and so many more nationalities. And almost as many scumbags of the same nationalities. But the biggest thing that I got from these is that every one of those people could get along, if only for the sake of the paycheck. That seems to be an idea that is not welcome anymore. There is so much division, hatred, and jealousy in our society, that I almost don't recognize America anymore. Keep in mind, that all of this is my humble opinion. Except for the people I met along the way. I would'nt change any of those experiences for anything. It's too easy to be nice to people, hold the door open for somebody, help an elderly person with anything they need. If it wasn't for them, none of us would be here. You don't have to be super religious, or uber wealthy to help somebody. Sometimes all it takes is a smile, or a kind word to make someone's day. You never know what somebody else needs. Remember when the pandemic started and Hollywood kept telling us that "We're all in this together"? It was'nt that long ago, but we seem to have very short memories, unless there is something to be gained from it. We never ran from adversity before. I'm just a guy, sitting at a machine with a screen, doing my best to type a series of words, that may, or may not, mean something to somebody. The only thing that I know for absolute certain, is during the pandemic, the people making the rules, were the only people who were guaranteed a paycheck. Again, just my opinion, and, I'm not a doctor (even though my medical degree carries as much weight as the one Bil Gates has). If we really are All in this together, we should probably start acting like we have an idea where thisss is headed. Again, just my opinion. No matter how many movies you go see, or how many television shows you watch, the celebrities will never be there for you if you need a hand, or someone to talk to. Your neighbor, on the other hand, may never be too busy for you, or your brother or sister, or another family member. A true friend is always somebody to call on. But, when push comes to shove, there will never be a celebrity there when you need them. Again, just my opinion. Be the best person you can be. We all make bad decisions, but make the best bad decision possible. Laugh out loud. Who cares what somebody else thinks is funny? You are your own person. Live the best life possible for you. And, stop taking life so seriously. None of us are going to make it out of this alive......
